The process of making sanitary napkins in an Indian Village.

These six women go to work every day to make sanitary napkins for girls and women in their communities. Such a small tool for empowerment, but this allows girls to go to school and women to go to work the whole month, instead of missing out to tend to their monthly condition. Monja, Khartun, Nitel, and Shanti… you inspire me.

Love this concept! Not sure if it replaces formal education, although there are major issues with the current system, but I think this is a worthy effort.

Russell Ackoff shares lots of juicy thoughts on how design thinking needs to be the center of management education and how collaboration and openness can be a strategic advantage to corporations.

Taliban trend: Poisoning school girls in Afghanistan

This video covers the story of 124 girls who were poisoned in early May; just one of several poisoning reports, the most recent happening just this past weekend.

The resilience and strength of these women amaze me — they are willing to risk their lives to attain a better life for themselves and their country. One mother stated that she is scared for her daughter to attend school but knows the education of it’s people - especially girls - is Afghanistan’s only hope. Talk about having a sense of purpose every time you walk into a classroom.
